Rugby Basic Rules & Positions |
You want to play rugby?
First step is to join a club to, and what I would suggest is that you or you and your parents look at the clubs in your area, and select a club that has good training facilities, caters for children, ladies and has a friendly atmosphere. Also talk to the players who will give honest opinions about the club.
When you join a club it is important to build relationships with the other players as this will help you improve your skill levels and make playing more enjoyable. When you have decided on a club get a book on the rules and study them, children can involve their parents in learning the rules, if you are new to playing rugby. Rugby is a rough contact sport and you need to be fit to withstand the knocks and bumps.
Most rugby players are well built, quick on their feet and quick in thought, which is why you need to be fit. I think fitness should be your number one priority even before you join a club. Training gear needs to be provided by yourself as does boots, the club will supply the jerseys for the matches.
A great way to learn and appreciate rugby is to watch the experts. If you have been watching the Tri-nations you will have seen the All Blacks playing rugby at its very best. When find a club may you have many happy seasons playing for them and you will also make life long friends.
